Acne and Its Causes

Acne is one of the most prevalent medical conditions in the world. There’s still no known cure. It affects people from all walks of life, crossing ethnic and national boundaries as well as gender lines. This skin condition afflicts 90% of all adolescents, nearly half of all females and a quarter of all adults.

Although acne is incurable, the good news is it is treatable. Hope lies in the fact that we now know more about handling this condition than ever before. Prevention is the key to managing acne. We must start treating it right away even before the visual symptoms show. Stick with the kind of treatment that best suits you. Continuous treatment is required even after the pimples are all gone to keep them from coming back.  The possibility of permanent skin damage can be decreased if you address your acne immediately. As soon as the first signs appear, it’s vital to start treatment right away. Naturally, we must first be aware how acne starts in order to cease it.

Why do people have acne and how can we make acne scars fade?  To have a clear understanding of its causes, it is important to learn about these:

It is not your own doing. It is caused by a combination of factors inside your body. There is some truth in the belief that our eating and skin care habits contribute to the emergence of acne.

Before it even appears on your skin, a blemish is already starting to develop beneath your skin’s surface, particularly in the sebaceous hair follicles nor more commonly known as pores. Sebum, the oil that keeps your skin moist and flexible is produced by the sebaceous glands deep inside the skin. When old skin cells die, they are mixed with the skin’s natural oils and are discarded. This is the skin’s natural process. Fresh new skin is born everyday as the body gets rid of the old cells gradually.  Try using products like acne scar cream to get rid of old blemish marks.

But some people discard cells evenly while some don’t.  The process of healing is different for everyone. Sometimes, dead cells become sticky and form a plug by clumping together through uneven shedding. This is comparable to a cork plugging a bottle. Oil and bacteria are trapped inside the follicle because of this plug.

Then, swelling will occur in your follicle as the oil and bacteria are trapped and the skin continues to produce oil. The trapped bacteria will be attacked by the body’s white blood cells. This whole process will 2-3 weeks to complete and will result to a pimple.
